Lora Dimova

 

Lora Dimova was born in 1981 in Gabrovo. She holds a master degree in Porcelain and Glass from the National Academy of Art, Sofia. Since 2012 she lives and works in Helsinki, Finland, where in 2015 she graduated from the master degree in Fine Art at Aalto University, School of Art, Design and Architecture. She is a member of the Finnish Art Association MUU ry.

The artist works with various media, mainly with photography, video and performance. She is part of the sound performance duo “HUMANIMAL”. Her works have been shown internationally in exhibitions and festivals in Bulgaria, Finland, Sweden, South Korea, China, Poland, Turkey, Czech Republic, Russia, Germany, Austria, UK, Croatia and Morocco. Some of the exhibitions and festivals include: La-Bas Performance Festival, KIASMA – Museum of Contemporary Art, Helsinki (2016); Kuolema – Mikkeli Art Museum (2016); Contemporary Eastern European Ceramics, Icheon World Ceramic Center, South Korea (2016); PARADISE LOST, Third Space, Helsinki (2015, solo exhibition); Erottaa + - Us, The Glue Factory, Glasgow, UK (2013); International Biennial of Casablanca, Casablanca, Morocco (2012); Qui Vive? Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, Russia (2010).

 

My works investigate the reality and its transient characteristics. Juxtaposing seemingly conflicting subjects the mundane and unearthly, the banal and sacred become part of one whole, which is based on the fundament of paradox.
